I painted my toenails blue
all the while trying to search for you.
And all the hidden words in between,
for no one else ever to be seen.
Two cups of coffee every morning.
Too much sugar like a secret warning.
Too much is always too much, too much
too much of everything.
The radio played some kind of tune.
Couldn’t possibly imagine finding it all in ruin.
Screaming kids around the corner,
I’d catch myself yelling like my mother’s daughter.
History would catch up on a day like today.
I heard my voice saying what my dad would say.
Eating dinner like some sort of microwave taste,
More vitamines went for a dreadful waste.
I cut my finger with a sharp edged knife.
Like my blood’s like some girl’s independent strife.
I want to rule my world like some supergirl,
so it’ll spin and twirl and spin and twirl.
Two cups of coffee every morning.
Too much sugar like a secret warning.
Too much is always too much, too much
too much of everything.
